Job Description
WSP is hiring a Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer to provide technical assistance and guidance on multi‑site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sectors. Tasks may include research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of facilities, roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, bridges, water supply systems, and sewage treatment.
You will substantiate reports and documentation regarding materials, installations, and construction specifications and ensure that all responsibilities meet or exceed acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
This Opportunity
Provide leadership, support, and coordination for transmission line projects up to 765 kV, including:
- Lead and execute engineering of transmission projects.
- Support initial project execution layout to establish efficient project plans.
- Create and maintain project schedules.
- Conduct weekly or bi‑weekly project meetings to outline upcoming deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings.
- Maintain project workflow and communication across multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning.
- Facilitate and adhere to WSP’s QA/QC procedures.
- Participate in industry conferences to foster professional growth and knowledge transfer.
- Demonstrate transmission line design expertise with PLS‑CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement, construction specifications, methods, estimates, and construction support.
- Lead project teams of varying sizes.
- Travel to client offices, field, and vendor facilities as needed.
Project Manager (PM) Support
- Support the Project Manager with project status reports.
- Work with PMs to develop scope, schedule, and budget for new projects.
- Help identify out‑of‑scope items and support scope variances.
- Provide weekly or bi‑weekly project updates and forecasting.
- Support PMs in client meetings, both in person and remotely.
- Develop client relationships to position WSP for future work.
Department Support
- Support resource forecasting, recruitment efforts, and business improvement methodologies.
- Assist staff performance and technical development with leadership.
- Contribute to business planning efforts.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 5‑7 years of experience managing transmission projects and leading multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
- Understanding of NESC, RUS, and/or GO‑90.
- Strong knowledge of transmission line fundamentals and PLS‑CADD operation.
- Excellent command of English with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Field program planning, management, and execution.
- Subcontractor management.
- Cost estimating and scheduling.
- Field experience.
- MBA from an accredited university.
- Involvement in technical societies (IEEE, CIGRE, ASCE, etc.).
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Micro Station, foundation design software (FAD Tools, SHAFT, LPILE).
- POLE and TOWER experience.

Compensations for Colorado: $98,000–$175,200 annually, based on education, experience, and location.
