Billings Clinic is a community‑owned, not‑for‑profit, physician‑led health system based in Billings, Montana. We are seeking a per‑diem Surgical Technologist to assist in the care of surgical patients.
Position DetailsJob Title: Surgical Technologist (per diem)
Location: Billings Clinic Hospital, Billings, MT
Schedule: Day, Night (as needed)
Hours per Pay Period: 0.01 (per diem)
Starting Wage: DOE $25.12–$31.40
- Anticipates, plans for, and responds to the needs of the surgeon and other team members by constantly monitoring the sterile field.
- Demonstrates proper handling of instruments and equipment.
- Identifies potential intraoperative complications and responds appropriately.
- Assists team in maintaining adequate inventory of equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Utilizes performance‑improvement principles to assess and improve quality of patient care.
- Identifies needs and sets goals for personal growth and development, meeting all system and departmental educational requirements.
- Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and external agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
- Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
- Demonstrates understanding of asepsis principles for optimal patient care in the OR.
- Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills.
- Demonstrates ability to perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases.
- Knowledge of safe pharmaceutical handling requirements and guidelines.
- Analytical and critical‑thinking skills necessary to understand a variety of basic or routine problem scenarios associated with patient care.
- Interpersonal skills enabling appropriate response to patient/family requests, inquiries from physicians, nursing staff, other health care providers, and to check for understanding, allay apprehension, and enlist cooperation.
- Ability to utilize and apply PSE skills.
- Certification by the Liaison Council for the Surgical Technologist (LCC‑ST) — desired.
- CPR at hire.
- BLS certification.
All new employees must complete pre‑employment requirements prior to starting.
