Group Home Therapist - Billings Heights at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch

Position Summary

At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch our Group Home Therapists are an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team for adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, psychiatric, and developmental challenges. They provide evidence‑based interventions to promote the mental health and well‑being of the youth on their caseload.

Group Home Therapists are also responsible for working with different funding agencies, complying with external contract requirements, and federal and state guidelines for Therapeutic Youth Group Homes. In this role, you will be an essential member of a diverse and committed team of individuals working hard to prepare our youth for life. The youth we serve have experienced significant trauma in the past, so you will work with a team trained in trauma‑informed care.

Your primary focus will be providing individual and family therapy.

Pay Range

This range is provided by Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $56,969.38/yr - $73,016.32/yr

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing individual, family and group therapy in accordance with standards of practice and the needs of the youth and family.
  • Complete all clinical paperwork in a timely fashion according to YBGR standards and applicable licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Provide regular and ongoing treatment supervision and documentation for the service area; understand and communicate the justification for continued need for treatment at a Group Home level of care.
  • Adhere to code of ethics including:
    The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Workers Code, and The American Psychological Association Code.
  • Complete psychological testing and intakes as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform duties related to licensure as an independent practitioner, including but not limited to providing clinical training to team members and peers and supervision of master‑level interns.
Starting Salary Range
  • Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, or MFLC range: $2,191.13 - $2,466.14 biweekly
  • Current Montana LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT range: $2,495.16 - $2,808.32 biweekly
Qualifications
  • 21 years old or older
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:
    Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a similar field
  • Professional License
    • Group Home Therapist 1 – Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, or MFLC or obtain within 6 months of hire.
    • Group Home Therapist 2 – Current Montana LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT.
Required Abilities / Skills
  • Ability to relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the treatment team.
  • Ability to adhere to code of ethics including:
    The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Workers Code, and The American Psychological Association Code.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain and enhance clinical skill set.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality with youth and families.
  • Knowledge of behavior modification and age‑appropriate child development.
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn quickly the YBGR selected software solutions.
  • Good judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrate self‑motivation, self‑discipline, and diligence with forward thinking.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize team success over individual success.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others. These skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships, collaborating with colleagues, resolving conflicts, and navigating social situations.
