Job DescriptionAmerican Medical Response (AMR) is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre‑hospital medicine.
What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)? The primary focus of an EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
AboutThe Program
The EMT Academy is a rigorous 8‑12 week program offered throughout the year which qualifies the employee to take the NREMT exam. There is no cost for the class, and all books, tuition, fees and uniforms will be paid by AMR. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state certification, the employee will be supported in their application for an EMT position at AMR.
RightCandidates Must
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have proof of a HS diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Have all required immunizations
- Successfully complete the pre‑employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing and a physical agility test
- Be an Active‑Duty Service Member within 180 days of EAS with command approval
What happens after passing the course? After successful completion, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test offered by the Department of Health. Upon receipt of the state EMT‑B certification, employees will be eligible to apply for a position with GMR.
