Environmental Services Aide

Reports to: Environmental Services Director
Position SummaryThe Environmental Services Aide maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, public areas, and offices. This role supports infection control and contributes to a positive patient experience through meticulous cleanliness and organization. Responsibilities include vacuuming, sweeping, high dusting, mopping, sanitizing furniture, and ensuring compliance with CDC guidelines for infection control. Must be able to work every other weekend.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Clean assigned areas thoroughly, ensuring facilities meet sanitation regulations and infection control standards.
- Sweep, dust, mop, and/or polish assigned areas or buildings.
- Stock assigned areas with basic supplies.
- Check area after cleaning to ensure departmental guidelines are followed.
- Perform appropriate follow-up, documentation, and compliance activities related to cleaning procedures.
- Document work performed according to department standards.
- Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding cleanliness status (e.g., patient room ready for discharge).
- Comply with all applicable JCAHO, OSHA, and related standards regarding chemical/supply use and documentation.
- Inform supervisor of inventory and supply needs.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to ensure safety of self and others.
- Report safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Previous clinical housekeeping experience preferred.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
