Diesel Technician/Mechanic II – Penske Truck Leasing

Join Penske Truck Leasing’s fleet of skilled technicians and help keep the newest, best‑maintained fleet of vehicles safely on the road. As a Technician II, you’ll work independently, perform major and minor repairs, conduct diagnostic road tests, and mentor newer technicians while growing your own skill set.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner
  • Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, and more
  • Keep your work area clean and safe
  • Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics
  • Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training program
  • Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of practical vehicle maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
  • Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); ASE certification and 608/609 certifications preferred
  • Proficient with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Strong problem‑solving, customer service, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 100 lbs)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety & maintenance policies; ability to maintain a DOT driver qualification file
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
  • Willingness to travel within the district, complete background and drug screening, and meet required safety standards

Physical Requirements
  • Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
  • Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, and manipulate tools and controls
  • Work safely at heights with ladders and platforms
  • Operate safely in all weather conditions
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs routinely and up to 100 lbs occasionally

Pay: $27.75 per hour

Hours: Wednesday — Saturday, 6 am to 4:30 pm

Shift Differentials:

  • Second shift start after 11 am: $3.00 per hour differential
  • Third shift start after 9 pm: $4.00 per hour differential
