Safer. Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects in telecommunications, including turnkey fiber installation, 5G network expansions, and servicing legacy networks. This position is intended for near-future deployment in the Montana, Tennessee, and Texas markets, with potential expansion into Idaho, Washington, and Illinois.
- Splice, test, and troubleshoot infrastructure, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and customer builds, ensuring reliable connectivity and service quality
- Complete daily safety documentation with a focus on accuracy and hazard identification
- Document and report work daily to support project tracking and accountability
- Inspect fiber routes and hub sites as part of preventative maintenance to ensure long-term network integrity
- Interpret technical drawings and documentation to determine fiber counts and deployment requirements
- Maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail in all work

- Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing (single fiber fusion, ribbon splicing, ribbonizing, and cleaving)
- Proficiency with OTDR testing to identify high losses, faults, and open locations
- Experience in live fiber closures and assembling various fiber optic closures
- Skill in fiber cable termination using various connector types
- Ability to document power meter results for QA and troubleshooting
- Understanding of patch panels, pigtails, patch cords, and splice boxes
- Knowledge of work area protection and safe work practices, including electrical safety and fall protection
- Comfortable working in confined spaces or manholes and adhering to safety protocols
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, with problem-solving ability and ability to meet customer deadlines
- Clear, respectful communication with team members, visitors, and customers

Estimated pay range: $20.00 to $35.00/hour
