Senior Software Engineer

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Software Engineer III to serve as a senior technical lead on a small internal engineering team. This hands‑on role involves designing, building, and maintaining in‑house software that supports critical business workflows. You will write production code, provide technical leadership, and mentor other engineers while working with stakeholders across operations, finance, engineering, and architecture. A key focus is modernizing legacy desktop applications with modern, maintainable systems while ensuring business continuity.

$107,000 to $137,000 annually.

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Strong skills in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining production systems
• Experience making architectural decisions for reliable, maintainable systems
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers
• Modernizing or replacing legacy systems
• Advanced SQL and relational database experience (SQL Server, Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL)
• Building web‑native applications in JavaScript/Type Script (Node, React, or similar)
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative platforms
• Ability to debug complex production issues
• Clear communication of technical concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders

• C# and .NET Windows desktop experience
• Experience supporting internal business teams
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools

• Design, develop, and maintain internal applications
• Provide architectural guidance, code review, task delegation, and mentorship
• Lead replacement of legacy applications with modern technologies
• Partner with stakeholders to prioritize high‑value solutions
• Manage competing priorities and make informed technical/business tradeoffs
• Ensure code quality, reliability, security, and maintainability
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues
• Participate in after‑hours support as needed
• Stay current with evolving technologies and AI‑assisted tools

* Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
