Job DescriptionThe Quality/Risk Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management of hospital wide quality/risk review processes. Duties include overseeing the data collection processes; and special targeted studies/research and reviews in accordance with QI standards and procedures. Manages the medical staff peer review process. Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements and assists with survey readiness activities. Manages and coordinates organizational Risk Management activities in an advisory capacity to establish mechanisms for early substantiation of potentially litigious events, correction of errors, and reduction of the hospital's exposure to litigation.
QualificationsEducation:
Nursing or other clinical healthcare degree is required.
Experience:
Three to five years of progressive administrative assistant experience within a healthcare setting is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software programs, verbal and written communication, customer service, and schedule coordination.
A working knowledge of Quality Improvement, Risk Reduction and Patient Safety principles are strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Medical Staff, Department Leaders, and Hospital Staff throughout the facility. Must exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of working independently and autonomously. Position requires working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Excel, Health Information Management and statistics.
Must be able to function effectively under stressful conditions and meet deadlines timely.
Licenses/Certificates:
Current RN licensure by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing or pertinent certification/registration in health related field is required. BLS and NIH Stroke certifications are required. Certification through the HQCB or as a Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred.
