AS AN ATHLETIC FIELD GROUNDSKEEPING LABORERYou will maintain the grounds of athletic fields and other green spaces by fulfilling landscape maintenance duties. You will safely operate commercial-grade landscaping equipment and ensure the upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.
GROUNDSKEEPING LABORER DUTIES INCLUDE- Perform athletic field and grounds maintenance including mowing, aerifying, topdressing, seeding, sodding, trimming, field painting, irrigation and turf care, fertilizing, etc.
- Perform tilling, rolling and fertilizing soil
- Maintain high traffic wear areas on athletic fields
- Operating vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snowblowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws
- Using hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes
- Pruning or trimming trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws
- Gathering and removing litter
- Raking, mulching, and composting leaves
- Following planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage
- Planting seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools
- Must be familiar with reel mowers and athletic field maintenance
- Must be proactive, professional, and able to work reliably on independent tasks or in a group
- Previous experience in landscape or similar industry
- Knowledge and ability to use landscape-related tools (i.e. mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
- Horticulture knowledge and standards of pruning, planting, digging, and mulching
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is required
- $18.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience
