Job DescriptionThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in fall of 2026. Individuals with an established record of obtaining competitive research funding and a history of scholarly excellence will be considered for appointment at the associate professor rank.
BroadArea of Energy Storage
- Electrochemical energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors, solid‑state systems)
- Novel electrode and electrolyte materials for batteries (solid‑state, Li‑metal, Na‑ion, multivalent, or beyond Li‑ion systems)
- Thin film, nanostructured, or hybrid materials for high‑performance storage
- Sustainable materials, recycling, and lifecycle analysis for energy storage
- Computational materials design and data‑driven discovery of storage materials
- Modeling, control, and management of energy storage systems
The successful applicant will be expected to establish and sustain an externally funded research program and have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.
Minimum Requirements- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field by September 1, 2026
- Published several journal papers in a related field
- Developed or been part of a research program in the energy storage field
- Teaching experience, including teaching assistant experience
- Effective communication skills
- Experience in proposal writing
- Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
