Job DescriptionThe Department of German and Russian Studies at Binghamton University invites applications for a full‑time lecturer in German beginning in Fall 2026 for an appointment of up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. A Ph.D. in hand (in German Studies, German Applied Linguistics, or a related field) is required at the time of appointment, with native or near‑native proficiency in German and proven records of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The successful applicant will teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced German language courses, as well as courses in English in their area of expertise, and will contribute to program‑building, outreach, and curricular growth in the context of a vibrant, interdisciplinary German studies program.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in German Studies, German Applied Linguistics, or a related field by August 17, 2026
- Fluent speaking and writing in German and English
- Experience teaching German at the college level
- Extensive teaching experience at the college level (3+ years)
- Research profile or substantive experience in second language acquisition
