Job DescriptionThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in the fall of 2026. Individuals with an established record of obtaining competitive research funding and scholarly excellence may be considered for appointment at the associate professor rank.
Areaof Interest – Energy Storage
- Electrochemical energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors, solid‑state systems)
- Novel electrode and electrolyte materials for batteries (solid‑state, Li‑metal, Na‑ion, multivalent, or beyond Li‑ion systems)
- Thin film, nanostructured, or hybrid materials for high‑performance storage
- Sustainable materials, recycling, and lifecycle analysis for energy storage
- Computational materials design and data‑driven discovery of storage materials
- Modeling, control, and management of energy storage systems
The successful applicant will be expected to establish and sustain an externally funded research program and maintain a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.
Minimum Requirements- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field by September 1, 2026
- Published several journal papers in a related field
- Developed or been part of a research program in the energy storage field Geneva a communication skills
- Effective communication skills
- Experience in proposal writing
