Position: Work Readiness Educator
Location: City of Binghamton

This position will serve as the Career Bound Work Readiness Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Broome County under the leadership and supervision of the Career Bound Program Leader. The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will deliver curriculum based, dynamic, small group education and real-world experiences to teach and reinforce work readiness and customer service skill development and application.

The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will teach Career Bound program associates in a classroom style environment. As part of the Career Bound team, the Work Readiness Educator assists with initial assessments with each individual, documents when benchmarks are achieved and works closely with the Career Bound and Workforce NY employment staff. Career Bound staff work in partnership with Workforce NY to ensure that participants are ready, appropriate and supported for success in the next step of their assessment plan.

The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will also market the program by representation on local youth development coalitions for the purpose of recruitment and program connections and planning. Coordination and communication with other Career Bound program staff, training providers and employers will be important, as participants move from one component of the program to another. This position will work closely with the Career Bound team to assist in providing a high-quality program that meets program participant needs and the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act’s (WIOA) required outcomes related to TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion)/basic skills, work readiness, training/certification, and employment.#

** This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 37.5 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

*** Associate's Degree or equivalent education (TASC/High School Diploma and one year of transferrable program/functional experience).
* Experience relevant to the role of the position.
* Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
* Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Experience in direct youth development working with at-risk youth or adults.
* In-depth knowledge of Broome County programs and human services.
* Demonstrated ability to implement, organize, plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.
* Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.
* Demonstrated ability to organize reference materials for programming purposes.
* Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to utilize program resources within the community.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.
* Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
