The Department of German and Russian Studies at Binghamton University invites applications for a full-time lecturer in German beginning in Fall 2026 for an appointment of up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. A Ph.D. in German Studies, German Applied Linguistics, or a related field is required at the time of appointment. We are especially interested in applicants with a research profile or substantive experience in second language acquisition.

The teaching load for this position is 3/3, with typically two preparations per semester. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced German language courses, as well as courses in English in their area of expertise. We seek candidates with native or near-native proficiency in German, proven records of excellence in undergraduate teaching, and expertise in current approaches to second language learning and teaching.

The role also calls for contributions to program-building, outreach, and curricular growth within a vibrant, interdisciplinary German studies program.

• Ph.D. in German Studies, German Applied Linguistics, or a related field by August 17, 2026
• Speak and write fluently in German and English
• Experience teaching German at the college level

• Extensive teaching experience at the college level (3+ years)
• Research profile or substantive experience in second language acquisition
