Job Description:The Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Decker School of Nursing invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time ranked 10-month clinical instructor position supporting the exclusively online RN-to-BS program. This asynchronous program operates on a year-round basis with six 7-week terms per year (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Candidates for full-time employment must have experience with online course development and delivery.
Key qualities for this role include effective communication skills, ability to work independently, a goal-oriented mindset, creativity, and the ability to collaborate and compromise effectively. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to meeting deadlines and adhering strictly to RSI and Title IV Guidelines for asynchronous coursework.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
Teaching Asynchronous Online Courses:
- Serve as course lead/coordinator for 2-3 courses per semester (1
-2 course in a 7-week session) teaching and guiding additional course faculty. - Teaching 12-16 credits per academic year.
- Participating in curriculum committee discussions relating to the online RN to BS program.
- Complete end of course reports every session as part of a program wide quality management process.
- Practice regular and substantive interaction (RSI) in an asynchronous online course with a predictable weekly cadence of instructor-initiated, outcomes-aligned engagement including:
- teaching short lessons or worked examples (typically via video).
- facilitating student engagement with the course material via instructor-moderated discussion with probing replies.
- designing required/scheduled activities with clear response-time standards.
- assessing learning via assignments with individualized, actionable feedback by a published turnaround.
- monitoring student progress and proactively contacting those who need support.
Service Obligations:
- Participates in nursing accreditation processes as assigned by Program Director.
- Serving on University committees
- Faculty Council, Decker College Assembly. - Serving on work groups that contribute to preparation for accreditation visits.
- Gathering and analyzing data related to course, curriculum and program review to foster continuous quality improvement.
- Serving as course coordinator, course lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Documenting actions taken in faculty and committee meetings as appropriate.
- Serving on University committees
- General academic advisement, coaching and mentoring to assigned RN-to-BS students enrolled in the program.
- Maintaining Gen Ed designations on selected courses.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Nursing or Nursing Education.
- Unencumbered License in New York State or ability to obtain a NY Nursing License before starting employment.
- At least 2 years online teaching experience with RN to BS students or related degrees.
- Experience teaching using a Learning Management System, such as Brightspace or Canvas.
