About This Role

Join CAE in Binghamton, NY, and Help Pilots Return Safely from Their Missions!

At CAE, we empower our employees to create mission‑critical simulation solutions that train pilots and defense personnel, ensuring their safe return from real‑world missions. As an Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Engineer in our Binghamton hub, you’ll design, develop, and maintain advanced EW systems, with a strong focus on radar and related technologies, for high‑fidelity flight and mission simulators, integrating modern and legacy systems to replicate realistic electronic warfare environments.

Live and work in the vibrant Greater Binghamton area, known for its affordable living, rich history, and access to the scenic Finger Lakes region, a perfect place to build your career and life.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain electronic warfare systems for flight and mission simulators, with an emphasis on radar systems, radar warning receivers, and countermeasures to ensure accurate simulation of EW threats and tactics for safe pilot training.
  • Enhance and maintain legacy EW and critical to simulator functionality, integrating new radar technologies and features while ensuring reliability, optimization, and stability.
  • Integrate advanced radar and EW technologies, such as active electronically scanned array (AESA) radars, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), radar warning receivers, jammers, or signal intelligence (SIGINT) systems, with legacy systems to enhance training realism.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including software and hardware engineers, to integrate radar and EW systems with simulator platforms, ensuring seamless operation for real‑time, mission‑critical applications.
  • Develop and optimize EW and radar algorithms, threat models, and countermeasures, including radar signal processing and electronic counter‑countermeasures (ECCM), to ensure robust performance in real‑time simulation environments.
  • Participate in system design reviews and cross‑functional brainstorming to drive innovation in radar and EW systems within a disciplined development process.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in legacy and real‑time radar and EW systems, ensuring simulators meet the highest standards for pilot training in contested environments.
  • Make a global impact by building radar and EW systems that empower pilots and defense personnel to train effectively and return safely from their missions.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of professional experience in electronic warfare systems engineering, with a strong focus on radar systems (e.g., AESA, SAR, pulse‑Doppler) and their integration into mission‑critical or real‑time applications.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for ensuring reliability and performance of radar and EW systems in high‑stakes training environments.
  • Expertise in radar technologies, including active and passive radar systems, radar signal processing, radar warning receivers, electronic countermeasures (ECM), electronic support measures (ESM), and signal intelligence (SIGINT), as well as familiarity with communication protocols relevant to EW and radar systems (e.g., MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC 429).
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑704, for airworthiness, ARINC and RTCA standards are preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret or higher clearance prior to the start of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime, weekend work, shift work, and site travel (CONUS).
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
