In This Role, the Field Construction Manager Assistant supports the Field Construction Manager, Project Manager, and Construction Manager in coordinating all field construction, electromechanical, and civil activities. The Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring on‑site safety, schedule adherence, quality control, and cost efficiency, while maintaining effective communication across all project stakeholders.
Field Operations- Assist with daily field coordination and site issue resolution.
- Monitor and report on construction progress through weekly and monthly updates.
- Conduct daily site checks and coordinate with the Energy and Security Control Centers.
- Attend weekly contractor meetings; review two‑week look‑ahead schedules.
- Maintain organized documentation, including project logs, meeting minutes, and as‑built drawings.
- Facilitate material delivery coordination and inspect for completeness and damage.
- Support preparation of final documentation and review contractor invoices and schedules.
- Ensure project compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards (CIP, FERC, NERC).
- Submit transmission outage requests via E‑STAR/CONVEX.
- Maintain change order and correspondence logs.
- Interface with municipalities and external stakeholders as needed.
- Support emergency storm response and restoration activities.
- Support review of contractor Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Lead or participate in daily safety briefings and weekly safety inspections.
- Track and report safety incidents, near misses, and violations.
- Ensure visitor compliance with site safety protocols and escort requirements.
- Recommend and support corrective and preventive safety actions (CAR/PAR).
- Review and enhance Environmental Management Plans.
- Conduct and document weekly environmental inspections.
- Ensure incident reporting and support investigations.
- Communicate with regulatory inspectors and manage third‑party inspection documentation.
- Propose and support environmental CAR/PAR implementation.
- Assist in reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and track compliance.
- Ensure contractor documentation is up to date, including IFC drawings and markups.
- Track and manage RFIs, design changes, and field modifications.
- Verify testing, as‑built data, and SAP equipment forms.
- Support document control in Project Wise and coordinate lessons learned reporting.
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- BS/BA in Engineering or 5+ years in:
- Construction Management
- Electrical equipment testing and maintenance
- Relay protection, SCADA systems, and commissioning
- Troubleshooting and electrical field engineering
- Background check clearance (per IUSA policy)
- Valid driver’s license
- Exposure to industry‑leading clients and partners.
