ResponsibilitiesThe Field Construction Manager (FCM), under the guidance of the Project Manager and Construction Manager, coordinates, manages, and supervises all construction and on-site electromechanical tasks, as well as civil work. The FCM is responsible for:
- Coordinating the schedule with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure required site progress.
- Managing the mobilization and demobilization of resources in a timely manner.
- Implementing corrective measures to ensure compliance with Client’s policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Providing proactive field support to resolve problems.
- Opening and closing daily work notifications; inspecting substation/ROW perimeter.
- Reporting weekly/monthly; documenting site meetings.
- Monitoring schedule and attending contractor meetings.
- Maintaining onsite H&S, Environment, and Quality project binder.
- Organizing and documenting project progress.
- Preparing Final File; reviewing contractor invoices and schedules.
- Conducting weekly project progress meetings; requesting two‑week look‑ahead schedule.
- Being onsite during work; observing contractor activities.
- Notifying Project Manager of issues or public complaints.
- Coordinating material delivery; inspecting construction materials.
- Ensuring workmanship conforms to specifications and schedules.
- Resolving construction problems with engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Minimizing change orders; reviewing and recommending on change orders/notices.
- Enhancing project constructability considering schedule, cost, and quality.
- Attending E-STAR/CONVEX training; initiating transmission outage requests.
- Maintaining project change order and correspondence log.
- Communicating continuously with Project Manager; coordinating with local/state municipalities.
- Adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review HASP from contractors; attend daily briefs.
- Provide Safety Orientation Checklist; ensure completion.
- Supervise daily safety activities; prepare weekly inspections.
- Report and investigate accidents/incidents; propose corrective actions.
- Review Environmental Management Plan; provide improvements.
- Include environmental tips in daily briefs; ensure checklist completion.
- Supervise daily environmental activities; prepare weekly inspections.
- Report and investigate environmental incidents; propose corrective actions.
- Review Inspection Test Plan from contractors; ensure onsite records are organized.
- Update IFC drawings; track contractor mark‑ups.
- Control project documentation; ensure compliance with permits.
- Verify equipment testing and as‑built data.
- Perform weekly audits and inspections; propose non‑conformance actions.
- Review contractor material submittals; verify material receipts.
- Upload documents to Project Wise; propose lessons learned.
- Conduct pre/post energization inspections; reconcile materials at project end.
Must have a BS/BA degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university or 10 years’ experience in the following areas:
- Construction Management
- Construction, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment
- Relay protection and control systems
- Start‑up and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems
- Electrical Field engineering
- Arc Flash safety training
- Troubleshooting of electrical equipment or systems
- SCADA and communication systems
- Background Check clearance to obtain a contractor badge per IUSA Contractor Background Check policy.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- First Aid/AED.
- OSHA 30 LI‑Hybrid.
