Position Overview

United Health Services is seeking a Robotics Nursing Coordinator to help lead the expansion of our Robotics Surgery Program as we add a second da Vinci robot to our system. This new role will be instrumental in shaping the future of robotic‑assisted surgery at UHS, coordinating daily operations, optimizing scheduling and resources, and serving as the primary nursing liaison for robotics.

The Coordinator will support case preparation, staff training, and ongoing competency development while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and manufacturer standards.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN in New York State with perioperative experience and a passion for advancing robotic‑assisted surgery. Leadership, teaching, and organizational skills are essential, along with the vision to grow a program that enhances both patient outcomes and team performance.

There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. $44.77 - $67.15 per hour, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine staffing needs and schedules for 24‑hour coverage of patient care needs.
  • Supervise the assignment of patients and allocation of nursing staff according to patient needs, patient acuity, and staff skill mix.
  • Act as a clinical consultant for patients, families, department staff, physicians and other hospital departments. Troubleshoot clinical and operational matters collaboratively.
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff for the operating room.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in clinical education including orientation of new staff and education to meet learning needs of staff.
  • Provide direction and assistance to students and faculty.
  • Mentor and coach staff toward professional growth and development.
  • Complete performance appraisal process for technical and support staff as assigned in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
  • Provide recognition and retention activities in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
  • Monitor and ensure staff/unit compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards. Participate in the review and revision of department policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between staff and management.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the department performance improvement plan.
  • Execute the duties and responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in his/her absence and assume “on call” responsibilities when covering for the Nurse Manager.
  • Maintain a clinical practice by providing direct patient care when needed.
  • Oversee the preparation of supply requisitions and inventories equipment and supplies.
Position Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • CPR within 3 months of hire.
  • Completion of professional certification in the relevant specialty practice as soon as eligible (generally after 2 years of experience in the specialty).
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing or evidence of planned completion within two (2) years.
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing.
  • Previous experience in relevant nursing practice setting.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Current professional certification in the relevant specialty.
