Client Manager​/Accountant

Overview

A growing independent accountancy practice in the North West is seeking a commercially minded Client Manager / Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while contributing to the continued growth and success of the firm.

The role offers strong progression prospects, exposure to a broad SME client base, and the opportunity to play a key role in client relationships and advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed business, and limited company clients across a range of sectors
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102/105)
• Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance and mentorship
• Preparing and/or reviewing management accounts and providing actionable insights to clients
• Overseeing VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and general compliance work
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships
• Providing commercial advice to clients, supporting business growth and decision-making
• Assisting with workflow management, deadlines, and overall portfolio performance

Requirements

• Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment
• Strong accounts preparation and review experience
• Confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality service
• Good commercial awareness and ability to provide value-added advice
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (desirable)
• Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Quick Books, or similar

Qualifications

• AAT, ACCA or ACA qualified or qualified by experience
