Working within the Bereavement Services team, you will be responsible for providing professional administrative support, ensuring all burial, cremation and memorial processes are handled accurately, sensitively and in compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.
Key Responsibilities Ensure burial, cremation and memorial applications comply with relevant legislation and regulations. Prepare and process all paperwork relating to burials and cremations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Administer Book of Remembrance requests, memorial sales, enquiries and record keeping. Review and process memorial mason licence applications, ensuring compliance with national standards and council policies. Take bookings for funeral services, memorial installations and strewing services using the booking system.
Deliver excellent customer service to bereaved families, funeral directors, memorial masons and other stakeholders. Process financial transactions including fee collection, cash handling, card payments and banking in line with audit procedures. Conduct research for members of the public seeking information on graves, burial records and historical cemetery details. Respond to enquiries professionally, sensitively and efficiently. About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience working within a bereavement service or another sensitive customer-focused environment. Strong customer service experience dealing with members of the public in potentially emotional situations. Excellent administrative skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Experience handling confidential information appropriately. The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with patience, empathy and professionalism.
Confidence using IT systems and databases for booking, record management and financial processing. What's on Offer?
