You will assist in the provision and delivery of a regulated Building Control Service, to discharge the councils statutory building control duties under the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations 2010, to protect the health, safety and welfare of persons in and around buildings.
About the candidate:
- Experience and understanding of the role and functions of Building Control and have a sound knowledge of the Building Regulations, Approved Documents, allied legislation and enforcement procedures.
- You will be responsible for undertaking plan assessment, site inspections and enforcement work across a wide spectrum of works commensurate with your RBI classification.
- Experience of dealing with dangerous buildings and structures and implementing enforcement action when necessary, including participation in the Councils out of hours emergency call out service.
- Possess Chartered Member, Member or Fellow Chartered Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or hold membership of an acceptable alternative professional body e.g. RICS, CIOB.
- You’ll need to hold Class 2 or 3 RBI Registration with the Building Safety Regulator in respect of plans assessment and inspection activities.
- You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills and be able to work both individually and as part of a team.
- You will hold a full, valid driving licence and have unrestricted use of a suitable vehicle for business purposes or be able to otherwise demonstrate the ability to travel to locations in an efficient and timely manner.
