Applications are invited for an enthusiastic registered dental nurse to join our Community Dental Service, part of the Specialised Dental Service of Wirral Community Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The Specialised Dental Service provides both Community Dental Services and PDS services at several sites across the Wirral area and may include treatment on a domiciliary basis.
Many patients have complex needs and may be referred to the service for one-off courses of treatment or may be cared for on an on-going basis within the service.
The role may include provision of support to, and supervision of dental professionals in training. Previous experience in this field is advantageous.
You should be confident, be able to work under pressure and have the ability to communicate with staff at all levels throughout the organisation.
Candidates must hold a recognised dental nurse qualification and be registered with the GDC. This should be confirmed in your application.
Main duties of the job- To provide support to dentists delivering general dentistry, adult and paediatric special care dentistry and paediatric exodontia services, including the use of inhalation and intravenous sedation and general anaesthetic.
- To ensure that the service delivery within the Specialised Dental Services is in line with National and Local guidance.
- To provide training and support for dental professionals in training where required, including undergraduate dental professionals and dentists in foundation training, dental core training and Specialist training.

Person Specification Qualifications and Professional Training- Qualified Dental Nurse registered with the General Dental Council
- Holds a relevant Post-certificate Dental Nursing Qualification
- Experience of working in a dental surgery
- Understanding of decontamination processes
- Experience of working within a variety of patient groups
- Able to learn quickly and use new skills
- Able to work efficiently without supervision
- Possess a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Be flexible and adaptable to the changing demands of the service
- Work across multiple sites as required by the needs of the service
- Able to use dental computer system following training
- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Understanding the importance of staff development and training
- Understanding the visions and values of the Wirral Specialised Dental Service
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car
- Sympathetic to patients needs
- Shows empathy and caring nature
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
