1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant - Wirral

Academics Ltd are currently recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Wirral area.

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a warm and welcoming primary school setting. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about making a real difference to a child who requires additional emotional and behavioural support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil regulate emotions, engage with learning, and develop positive relationships, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to implement tailored strategies that promote inclusion and progress.

We are seeking someone who:
  • Has experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs.
  • Is confident providing 1:1 support, including emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Demonstrates a patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
  • Can effectively support pupils in and outside of the classroom.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicates confidently with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Is able to follow individual behaviour support plans and school policies.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Is passionate about making a lasting, positive difference to vulnerable pupils.
