Full‑time (temporary with possible permanent). Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and passionate Specialist SEN and SEMH Teachers to work across a range of supportive educational settings starting in September 2026. We are working in partnership with specialist provisions, alternative settings, and mainstream schools with SEN units to recruit full‑time teachers who can make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with additional needs.

Applicants are welcome from both Primary and Secondary teaching backgrounds, as roles are available across all key stages.

Many of these opportunities offer a clear pathway to permanent employment for the right candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons suited to individual student needs
  • Supporting pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
  • Creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
  • Managing behaviours using positive and trauma‑informed strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies
  • Tracking progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly
  • Encouraging emotional development, resilience and independence
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEN and/or SEMH pupils
  • Strong behaviour management skills and emotional intelligence
  • A patient, adaptable and resilient approach
  • The ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable learners
Preferred / Desirable Skills
  • Primary teachers with SEN/SEMH experience or interest
  • Secondary teachers looking to transition into specialist settings
  • Teachers from mainstream, specialist, or alternative provision backgrounds
  • Team Teach or de‑escalation training
  • Experience in PRUs, SEN schools, or resource bases
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed or therapeutic approaches
