Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA)
Location: Wirral

New Directions Education are currently recruiting experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across primary schools in Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting teaching and learning and are confident leading classes and delivering targeted interventions when required.

The schools we work with in Chester are welcoming and supportive, with strong leadership teams and a commitment to providing high-quality education for all pupils. Opportunities are available on a short-term, long-term, and potential temp-to-perm basis.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Leading whole-class learning across EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2
  • Delivering targeted intervention programmes to support pupil progress
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support where required
  • Supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and senior leaders
  • Assisting with assessment, monitoring, and pupil progress
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Confidence delivering lessons and leading whole-class learning
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and professional approach
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
