SEMH Teaching Assistant

£450-£475 per week depending on experience

Connex Education are working with a Specialist Primary School in Wirral who cater for pupils aged 2-11 years who have complex SEND and are supported by an Education Health care plan. They are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis supporting KS1/2 pupils with social, emotional, mental health issues.

This SEND School has fantastic on-site facilities and actively seek opportunities beyond the classroom through community visits and real-world experiences. All staff put the children at the heart of everything they do and create a fun, calm and engaging learning environment. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant at this School you will be supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour, helping them to regulate using calming techniques.

This is a full-time role and will commence asap. This will consist of working Monday-Friday 8.30am until 3.30pm. There is chance of a direct contract for the right candidate. This is ideal for a TA who has experience of supporting SEMH pupils and who want to make a difference in a positive learning environment.

• Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH.
• Be understanding and empathetic with the ability to help pupils self
  -regulate.
• Using a trauma informed approach when managing challenging behaviour.
• Promoting life skills and empowering pupils by building confidence.
• Be willing to support forest school and outdoor pursuit curriculum.
• Be willing to work as a team and collaborate with families to implement behaviour management strategies.
• Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
