What

You’ll Be Doing

Reporting directly into the Head of Projects, you will be a proactive and technically strong Process Engineer that’s ready to be a part of the projects team. You will be supporting large capital and continuous improvement projects. This role plays a key part in delivering projects that expand the capacity of the site, reduce costs and optimize plant equipment and processes.

This role will instrumental across all project stage gates, however; plant design and commissioning are critical. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance and the process engineering pilot teams to ensure projects are delivered within scope, on time and in budget.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Supporting design on large capital projects such as vessels, new systems and utilities.
  • Managing and implementing process improvement projects and system modifications to enhance robustness, efficiency and safety of manufacturing operations.
  • Performing technical calculations and engineering design work to support the design process throughout assigned projects.
  • Supporting troubleshooting through collaboration with Operations and Maintenance teams where needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory HSE requirements, including PSSR, DSEAR and occupational hygiene standards.
  • Providing technical expertise and leadership during incident investigations.
  • Providing process engineering expertise to the multidisciplined maintenance team where needed.
  • Managing contractors during the installation and implementation of plant projects.
Location

The role is primarily based at Oceans Park, Wallasey and will require on site attendance at least 3 days per week. Occasional travel to other sites may be required. Standard hours of 40 hours per week hybrid working between the hours of 08:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support project work, which may include temporary shift changes or out of hours activities.

What

You’re great at (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge of process design and engineering principles
  • Experience in managing implementation of projects and plant modifications.
  • Experience of performing commissioning and testing activities for plant projects.
  • Experience in carrying out technical calculations such as pipe sizing, pressure relief valve and vent sizing.
  • Experience in process safety requirements including HSE guidance and British Standards.
  • Exposure to project management and project management processes
  • Experience managing contractors for plant projects
  • Knowledge of process hardware specification (pipework, valves, pumps, instrumentation)
It’s a Bonus If You Also Have…
  • Industrial experience as a Process Engineer in biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical or related sectors
  • Experience with P& software
  • Understanding of control & automation hardware
Qualifications - Essential
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Chemical Engineering or industry standard equivalent from an accredited university.
