Trustee Volunteer – Governance & Compliance

We are looking for an individual with experience in charity regulation, governance frameworks or compliance oversight.

• Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements and our governing document
• Supporting policy development and review including safeguarding, data protection and volunteer processes
• Strengthening risk management and internal controls
• Advising on constitutional amendments and regulatory reporting
• Promoting best practice trustee standards

• Experience working within a registered charity
• Knowledge of Charity Commission reporting and regulatory expectations
• Governance, legal, safeguarding or compliance experience
• Understanding of risk registers and board assurance processes

We are seeking a financially skilled trustee with charity finance experience to support financial oversight and sustainability.

• Oversight of budgets, cashflow and financial planning
• Supporting preparation and review of annual accounts and reporting
• Advising on financial controls and reserves policy
• Reviewing grant funding conditions and restricted income management
• Providing strategic input on long-term sustainability

• Qualified accountant or strong finance professional
• Experience with in charity finance or not for profit organisations
• Understanding of SORP and charity reporting standards
• Experience supporting audits or independent examinations

• Integrity and independent judgement
• Willingness to provide constructive challenge
• Commitment to the charity’s mission
• Ability to attend board meetings (approx. 6–8 per year)
