This is a Band 4 role supporting registered nurses and GPs in the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care. The role combines Nursing Associate responsibilities and clinical duties commonly undertaken by Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in general practice, delivered inline with agreed protocols, competencies and scope of practice.
We are looking for a part‑time NA who can work 22.5 hours across a 3‑4 day week. Some flexibility on working days or hours may be offered to the right candidate. As part of the PCN’s Enhanced Access service, some Saturday working is required – generally around one in eight Saturdays, shared pro‑rata across the team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Undertake routine clinical procedures following appropriate training and assessment of competence, including: blood pressure monitoring and physiological observations, ECG recording, height, weight and BMI measurement, urinalysis and specimen handling.
- Support the delivery of chronic disease management clinics (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension) as delegated.
- Carry out NHS Health Checks and health promotion activities under protocol.
- Provide wound care and dressings within scope of practice.
- Administer vaccinations and immunisations where trained and authorised under PGDs/PSDs.
- Assist with cervical screening (if appropriately trained).
- Provide safe, effective, and person‑centred care to patients and support them before, during and after clinical procedures.
- Support recall systems, audits and QOF, and contribute to service delivery across PCN practices as required.
- Work in accordance with the NMC Code and standards for Nursing Associates, and collaboratively within the wider PCN multidisciplinary team.
Healthier West Wirral Primary Care Network is seeking a motivated and compassionate Nursing Associate to join our multidisciplinary team. While the post holder will be employed by the PCN, they will be aligned to Myrtle Group Practice, fully embedded within the practice team and working closely with staff and clinicians to deliver high‑quality patient care. Myrtle Group was formed on 1st May 2024 following the merger of Heswall & Pensby Group Practice and Commonfield Road Surgery.
Both sites have served their local population and patient lists of approximately 22,500 patients for over 40 years and maintain a high QOF achievement with a CQC rating of "Good in all areas".
- Foundation Degree (FdSc) Nursing Associate
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Good communication, organisational and IT skills, including use of EMIS.
- Flexible approach to working across PCN sites, if required.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting; primary care preferred but not essential.
- Support Enhanced Access through occasional Saturday working (6‑8 Saturdays per year).
