We have a full term post for an experienced, enthusiastic social worker to work in our Wirral Based Community Mental Health Team. You need at least two years post‑qualification experience. We are an All Age Adult Mental Health Service.

We have been integrated for many years with our health colleagues and this provides a supportive place and multi‑disciplinary team working environment.

You will provide an important and valued professional function working with some of the most vulnerable people in society. Your professional expertise and approach will ensure individual needs and aspirations are always supported, management of risk and safeguarding is of paramount importance.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore you need access to transport.

You must hold a Social Work Qualification, and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of working with younger adults with a neuro‑degenerative health need would be an advantage.

Shortlisting for this vacancy is due to commence on 20th March and the proposed interview date is 2nd April.

Main duties of the job

As an experienced social worker you can expect to have a capped caseload and be supported in relation to your ongoing development in the area of Mental Health. You need to have a passion/interest in mental health and there will be opportunities in the future to train as an AMHP. It is ideal to have some experience of BIA DOLS Court of protection work, complex safeguarding, social care act.

You will need to be compliant with the Social Care Act, Safeguarding, Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act and associated Codes of Practice for this role.

You will need to have experience of working with the service user group and be able to use social work methods to promote positive change, independence and wellbeing in accordance with assessed need, whilst promoting choice and control for adults and carers.

Working knowledge of relevant legislation and ability to apply legislation to practice including the Children Act 1989 and good IT skills to support accurate and timely case recordings.
