Court of Protection Solicitor or Legal Executive

Our client is seeking a Court of Protection Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their team in Birkenhead, Merseyside, on a hybrid basis.

• At least 3 years’ experience handling deputyship files
• Admitted solicitor or legal executive or equivalent
• Good knowledge of law relevant to Deputyship and Court of Protection requirements
• Knowledge of statutory duties relevant to Court of Protection and deputyship files
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Experience managing trauma-led deputyship cases
• Experience working with electronic case management systems
• Experience working with trade unions
• Ability to provide informal guidance to junior staff as required
• Ability to manage all aspects of caseloads, including decision-making and supporting team members' cases

• Assist with all aspects of Professional Deputyship matters, from application to administration
• Manage a caseload of professional and lay deputyship clients
• Prepare and submit lay deputyship applications to the Court of Protection
• Prepare and submit professional deputyship, trustee, and urgent applications
• Provide legal advice to union clients via the free legal advice service
• Liaise with case managers, carers, clients, and their families
