8:30am – 5:00pm (Mon – Thurs), 8:30am – 3:30pm (Fri)

Role OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Premises Manager to join our growing team. As Premises Manager, you will lead and line‑manage the Maintenance Team, Domestic Team, and the Painter and Decorator, ensuring high standards of service delivery across the school. You will oversee the maintenance and development of the school’s buildings and grounds, manage contractors, coordinate planned preventative maintenance, and respond promptly to site issues as they arise.
You will also play a key role in supporting the school’s operational needs, ensuring the premises provide a safe, welcoming, and effective environment for teaching and learning.
- Hold a clean full driving licence
- Hold qualifications relating to Health and Safety and/or COSHH
- Have significant experience in building maintenance, premises management and grounds maintenance – covering all trades
- Qualifications relating to Health and Safety and/or COSHH essential
- Certificates in any practical skills desirable
- Significant building maintenance, premises management and grounds maintenance experience covering all trade areas (including decorating, plumbing, electrical and joinery) essential
- Considerable DIY experience and expertise at the level of minor maintenance essential
- Knowledge of Health & Safety issues in a working environment essential
- Knowledge of machinery essential
- Knowledge of security systems and access control systems essential
- Maintaining stores and equipment essential
- Experience of working in a school
- Ideally will have considerable experience and expertise (as a former tradesperson) in a specific trade
- Knowledge of working with pupils with complex special educational needs
- Proven, effective management and direct line management experience (managing employed personnel and 3rd party contractor relationships) essential
- Considerable experience of managing a domestic team essential
- Can mobilise others to deliver on budget, on quality, and on time essential
- Ability to effectively challenge others to get things done and improve standards essential
- Able to effectively manage across multiple teams
- Practically minded essential
- Innovative and adaptable to work situations and emergencies essential
- Able to effectively prioritise work and manage it through to excellent outcomes essential
- High degree of planning skills essential
- Motivation to work with children and young people essential
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people essential
