We invite a Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Minor Injuries unit at the Victoria Central Health Centre site. We seek a clinically astute, motivated, enthusiastic Nurse Practitioner to join an established, experienced and friendly team and to further develop nursing, clinical and leadership skills while contributing to service development.

You will work within a caring, compassionate team that places patients at the forefront. You will also be part of a new way of working between primary and community care providers, aiming to remove boundaries between these services.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based nursing and clinical care.
  • Provide expert advice and clinical practice.
  • Participate in the education and development of self and other staff.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical colleagues to develop services and improve quality of care.
  • Autonomously assess, diagnose and treat children and adults who attend the Walk-in Centre with undifferentiated, undiagnosed conditions.

You will ideally have experience within a Minor Injuries Unit / A&E department or Walk-in Centre/GP surgery and/or urgent care settings. High standards of patient care should inspire those you work with.

Qualifications and professional training
  • Current registration with NMC
  • Clinical Exam Qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development relevant to MIU/WIC competencies
  • Evidence of Post Registration Development at Degree Level
  • Non-Medical Prescribing
Experience and Knowledge
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration
  • Recent experience of autonomous clinical decision making
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Experience in triage, accident and emergency, minor injuries, nurse-led primary care or another relevant MIU setting
Skills and Attributes
  • Knowledge of professional and NHS issues, quality and change in the clinical setting
  • Clinically credible and competent
  • Experience in clinical procedures relevant to WIC/MIU (e.g., wound management, early warning scores, plastering)
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • IT literate
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Wound closure (e.g., suturing)
  • X-ray interpretation
