Job DescriptionShop Manager
Job SummaryChatwins have several stores in the Wirral area and are looking to recruit a Shop Manager for our Heswall store. This is a permanent position offering a minimum of 35 hours per week, we are looking for an enthusiastic new Shop Manager to continue our success in delivering the best products and service to our amazing customers.
Whether it's our beloved breads or our new artisanal sourdough range, perfect pasty's, cakes, creams or carvery, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring they reach our customers looking their best, accompanied by outstanding service and a friendly atmosphere.
Our in-house training affords the successful applicant everything they need to learn the Chatwins standard in food safety and hygiene, product presentation and team development. Previous experience at Shop Manager level is essential, you must have a full clean driving licence and will need to have a positive, outgoing attitude to team management and customer relations.
The Shop Manager contract is a permanent appointment, offering a minimum of 35 hours per week, hours will vary between 7am-5pm with typically Wednesday & Sunday being your days off. Training is all done in store and is subject to a 3 month probationary period. Hourly rate is subject to yearly review and potential increase depending on the successful candidate's ability to drive turnover and grow the business.
Responsibilities- Supervise and manage shop staff, fostering a positive team environment
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Drive sales performance through effective merchandising strategies and promotional activities
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance
- Maintain inventory levels, placing orders as necessary to ensure product availability
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional manner
- Implement effective time management practices to optimise workflow within the shop
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, and feedback
- Maintain accurate administrative records related to sales, inventory, and employee performance
- Proven management experience in a retail environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are advantageous for customer interactions
- Proficient in merchandising techniques to enhance product visibility and sales
- Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively
- Experience in sales management with a focus on achieving targets
- Familiarity with phone etiquette for professional customer interactions
- Administrative experience to manage documentation and reporting efficiently
