Contract: Permanent, Full-Time.
Band: Band 6.
Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum.
Job SummaryAs a Children with Disabilities Social Worker you will support children and young people with physical, learning, sensory or developmental disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning – Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and review individual care plans with families and professionals.
- Safeguarding – Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, participate in child protection conferences, strategy meetings and court proceedings as required.
- Advocacy and Support – Advocate for the rights and needs of children with disabilities and support families to access education, health and financial services.
- Multi‑Agency Collaboration – Work closely with schools, health professionals, voluntary organisations and other agencies to coordinate services.
- Monitoring and Review – Regularly monitor child progress, update care plans and ensure services remain appropriate.
- Record Keeping – Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records; prepare reports for internal and external bodies.
- Promoting Inclusion – Encourage participation in community and educational activities; support transitions to adult services.
- Professional Development – Stay up to date with legislation and best practice; attend supervision, training and reflective practice.
- Degree in Social Work, DipSW or equivalent.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Must undertake the Practice Educator award.
- Relevant post‑qualifying or vocational training courses.
- Demonstrated practice supporting the core principles of the College of Social Work and the Families and Well‑Being Directorate.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act, Children and Families Act, Children and Social Work Act, Safeguarding).
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication with families and professionals.
- Organisational skills.
- Aware of current practice issues and challenges facing Social Workers.
- Commitment to anti‑discriminatory practice.
- Ability to work with individuals, families and carer groups regardless of background.
- Willingness to move across teams as service needs require.
- Capability to deliver excellent customer service and partnership with individuals, families and partner agencies.
- Sound assessment and interviewing skills.
- IT proficiency, e.g. Microsoft Office.
- Proven experience working with carers.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals and families.
- Experience arranging support plans and/or care packages.
- Experience working with partner agencies in a professional capacity.
- Experience with carers and families.
- Experience arranging care packages.
- Experience in a Local Authority setting.
- Experience working in a multi‑agency team.
- Experience working with diverse families and needs.
