Job Description 1 Month Contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose

As a Family Support Worker
, you will work within Children's Social Care, supporting children, young people, and families who require early help, assessment, and intervention services. You will work alongside Social Workers and partner agencies to help improve outcomes for children and safeguard vulnerable families.

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Provide direct support to children, young people, and families.
  • Assist Social Workers with assessments and intervention plans.
  • Support families experiencing difficulties and challenging circumstances.
  • Carry out home visits and welfare checks where required.
  • Promote positive family relationships and parenting skills.
  • Monitor the wellbeing and safety of children and young people.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and elevate appropriately.
  • Work with other professionals including schools, health services, police, and support agencies.
  • Maintain accurate case records and reports.
  • Support Early Help and Assessment processes.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to multi-agency planning.
  • Encourage engagement with support services and community resources.
  • Promote positive outcomes for children and families.
Essential Experience Required
  • Previous experience as a Family Support Worker, Children & Families Worker, Early Help Worker, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or similar.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • Experience identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Experience working in Children's Social Care, Early Help, Family Support, Youth Services, or Community Services.
  • Experience working with vulnerable families.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with multi-agency professionals.
  • Good case recording and report-writing skills.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Relevant Family Support, Childcare, Youth Work, Social Care, or Support Work experience.
  • Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
