Data Engineer

Salary: £68, per year

• Experience working with SQL Server and strong T‑SQL development skills
• Ability to design and build modular and reusable data components
• Understanding of data modelling, schema design and performance optimisation
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline development
• Experience using Git and version control practices
• Exposure to Azure data tools such as Azure SQL, Data Factory or Synapse
• Understanding of structured development practices and SDLC principles
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical colleagues
• Experience supporting or improving SQL Server environments
• Exposure to cloud‑based data platforms, ideally Azure
• Experience working in structured development or delivery environments
• Involvement in system improvements or modernisation initiatives

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and desired outcomes
• Design and deliver scalable, high‑quality data pipelines and models across SQL Server and Azure platforms
• Develop simple, modular, reusable data components that improve maintainability, performance, and governance
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of data solutions, including deployment, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution in Azure Dev Ops environments
• Drive continuous improvement through transparent communication, code reviews, constructive feedback, and modern data engineering practices
• Build high‑quality, well‑performing data pipelines and models using best practices
• Ensure data solutions are robust, scalable, and production‑ready
• Maintain strong standards in coding, documentation, and solution design
• Take accountability for delivering data solutions from design through deployment and support
• Ensure solutions deliver measurable business value and meet user needs
• Proactively manage and resolve issues impacting delivery or data quality
• Design flexible and adaptable data solutions that support future business needs
• Contribute to the evolution of the data platform, including adoption of Azure services
