Senior Accountant

We are seeking aSenior Accountant to join a reputable and growing company here in Birmingham known for the quality of their people. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a critical part in assisting in themanagementthe company’s accounting operations, reporting, and month-end close.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Controller in managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements

• Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records

• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures

• Provide support during audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries

• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making

• Help streamline accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed

• Mentor and support junior accounting staff as appropriate

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment with hands on general ledger experience

• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

* Salary expectations $85-90K, depending on relevant experience
