Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team in Birmingham, Alabama in a contract position. This role supports accurate and timely payment activity, resolves billing and account discrepancies, and helps maintain strong financial controls across accounts. The position works closely with internal teams and personnel to keep payables, reconciliations, and month-end tasks on track while providing dependable day-to-day accounting support.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounts payable activities for assigned carrier and agency accounts, ensuring work is completed in line with established policies and internal procedures.

• Investigate and resolve payment and accounting variances between insurance carriers and agency records, serving as a key point of contact for issue resolution.

• Perform regular account reconciliations and verify accuracy in accordance with internal control standards.

• Coordinate the timely submission of payable items, including carrier invoices and vendor-related payments, for processing.

• Manage recurring payment workflows and monitor scheduled obligations to help maintain accurate and prompt disbursements.

• Provide guidance and training to agency staff on proper accounts payable practices and related financial procedures.
