Corporate Operational Controller; Cost

Our client, a large infrastructure and construction services company, is seeking a Corporate Operational Controller to lead its operations accounting organization and provide financial leadership across a complex, project-based business.

North San Jose, CA. This role is on-site.

This executive-level role will oversee operational accounting, revenue recognition, forecasting, internal controls, and team development while serving as a key advisor to senior leadership. The ideal candidate combines deep operational accounting expertise with strong leadership skills and experience supporting large-scale project environments.

• Lead the operations accounting function and oversee accounting leadership supporting multiple business units and regions.
• Own enterprise-wide revenue recognition, margin analysis, cash flow forecasting, and operational accounting oversight.
• Analyze financial and operational performance metrics to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and profitability drivers.
• Partner with operational leaders to evaluate project revenue, cost projections, staffing needs, and business performance.
• Lead succession planning, hiring, professional development, and performance management for the operations accounting team.
• Establish internal control frameworks, accounting policies, and governance standards that support a growing organization.
• Drive automation initiatives, process improvements, and adoption of new financial technologies.
• Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic insights to executive leadership and support key business decisions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or another project-based environment.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition and long-term contract accounting.
• Demonstrated experience leading large operational cost accounting teams and developing future finance leaders.
• Strong experience with forecasting, internal controls, ERP systems, and executive-level financial reporting; CPA preferred.
• Must have experience from companies with $5B+ in revenues
