Job Title: Sourcing Analyst
Location: Birmingham, AL (On-site)
Salary: $65,000-$80,000 (DOE)+ bonus and benefits
About the RoleOur client, a leading national food distribution company
, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Sourcing Analyst to support strategic procurement initiatives across multiple product categories. The ideal candidate will have strong data-analysis capabilities, excellent supplier-relationship skills, and a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics within the food industry.
- Analyze supplier performance, pricing trends, cost structures, and market conditions to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Develop and maintain category-specific dashboards, analytics, and reports to drive procurement transparency and efficiency.
- Support RFP/RFQ processes, evaluate bids, and assist in negotiation preparation.
- Monitor commodity markets, supply risks, lead times, and product availability to ensure continuity of supply.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to align sourcing strategies with company objectives.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier optimization, contract compliance, and category rationalization.
- Assist in onboarding new suppliers, ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate data within procurement systems, including pricing, contracts, and supplier information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or related field.
- 2–5 years of sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience (food or consumer goods preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP, procurement, or BI tools (SAP, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
- Understanding of food distribution, perishable supply chains, and vendor management.
- Strong communication, negotiation support, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience analyzing commodity markets (produce, proteins, dairy, packaged foods).
- Exposure to sourcing for multi-location distribution or restaurant groups.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulatory compliance.
