The ideal candidate would be located in or around Birmingham, AL. This position will be responsible for leading a preconstruction department (3 estimators) and will report directly to the president.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):- Knowledgeable about construction approach of building commercial, healthcare, industrial or multifamily projects
- Identify and compute labor, material, and time costs by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and other bid documents
- Experience in working in a team of estimators
- Work with operations teams on general requirements, including fees, financials, and construction schedules
- Partner with associated division/market to assist in managing and forecasting pursuit costs
- Drive projects forward and understand efforts needed in order to achieve desired results
- Strategically apply preconstruction resources for greatest return on investment
- Proficiently utilize estimating software tools
- Collaborate with clients to understand and extract their true needs

- Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of construction experience, or adjacent fields
- Understanding of all aspects of preconstruction
- Ability to develop and maintain key long-term relationships (clients, subcontractors, partners, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Conflict resolution skills and experience with successfully resolving disputes
- Ability to multitask and prioritize resources
- Superior organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Proficient knowledge of estimating software
- Experience representing company with industry and community organizations
