Pediatrician

Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking a well‑qualified, motivated Pediatrician to provide a variety of medical care in the specialty area of pediatrics. Pediatrician work is performed under the administrative direction of the Health Center Administrator and the medical direction of the Medical Director but requires considerable independent judgment and decision‑making regarding diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients.

• Take patients' medical histories, examine patients, order necessary medical tests, and create a plan of treatment.
• Administer vaccinations, provide preventative healthcare, and teach patients and their parents about proper healthcare (e.g., hygiene and nutrition).
• Supervise staff, provide clinical guidance, and complete formal performance evaluations.

• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Alabama or ability to obtain an Alabama license prior to beginning employment.
• Completion of an accredited pediatric residency program prior to beginning employment.
• Possession of a Basic Life Support Certification.

• Board‑Certified Physician (American Board of Pediatrics).
• At least three years of post‑residency pediatric experience.
