Overview
i3 Academy Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to join our middle school team as a Wellness & MTSS Support Teacher for grades 6–8. This is a full-time position with responsibilities divided equally between teaching Wellness (Physical Education integrated with Health) and providing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to students in collaboration with our instructional and support teams.
Responsibilities- Wellness Instruction (½ Day):
Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons in Wellness aligned with state standards. - Promote physical literacy, teamwork, and personal wellness among students.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and active learning environment that encourages all students to participate and grow.
- Integrate strong classroom management strategies to create a structured and safe space for physical activity.
- Contribute to school athletic programming through coaching and extracurricular physical activity leadership as appropriate.
- MTSS Support (½ Day):
Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to implement academic and behavioral interventions within the MTSS framework. - Support students through data-driven instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools.
- Participate actively in MTSS meetings and student support planning sessions.
- Utilize strong pedagogical knowledge to differentiate instruction and support targeted student growth.
- Proven classroom management skills that promote respectful, safe, and engaging environments.
- A passion for wellness education with the ability to connect with middle school students through health and physical activity.
- Effective collaboration within a team-oriented school culture, working closely with colleagues, families, and support staff.
- Experience implementing evidence-based teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
- Flexibility, empathy, and responsiveness in meeting the needs of diverse learners.
- Coaching experience or a willingness to support school athletics or extracurricular wellness activities is preferred. Opportunities are available with an additional stipend pay.
- Valid teaching license with appropriate endorsement in Physical Education and/or Health (or the ability to obtain).
- Experience working in middle school settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and intervention practices is highly desirable.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
