Position Summary

Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months.

Terms of Employment

Employed on an "As Needed" basis; local salary schedule in accordance to documented academic credentials and/or educational experiences, and not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.

Salary

Local Salary Schedule (based on credentials and area of assignment)

  • Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – MS/MA: $1,683 per 3 credit course
  • Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – PhD./Ed.D.: $1,836 per 3 credit course
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • A. Instruction
    • Adhere to all requirements regarding the learning management system (Blackboard), posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates.
    • Teach from current job‑relevant syllabi and training plans.
    • Supplement lectures with multimedia materials.
    • Demonstrate safe use of equipment and include safety, health, and fire prevention as an integral part of instruction.
    • Maintain a conducive learning environment; supervise and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop.
    • Develop laboratory projects to connect theory to practical application.
    • Distribute current syllabi at the beginning of each term, including objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, rules, and required materials.
    • Administer written and performance examinations; record student progress systematically.
    • Submit a plan for absence to the department chair and supervising administrators.
    • Communicate student progress per established guidelines; respond to requests promptly (typically within 24–48 hours).
    • Follow regulations regarding online instruction (when applicable).
    • Facilitate instructional methodologies for programs involving industry chemicals/products.
  • B. Recordkeeping
    • Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance records; submit reports on time.
    • Follow state and institutional grading systems; submit grades each term by the due date.
    • Submit forms to the registrar for status changes and aid students in submitting graduation documents.
  • C. Enforcement of College Policies
    • Participate in departmental orientation and communicate administrative announcements.
    • Adhere to institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Apply FERPA regulations and report violations.
    • Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when documented.
Qualifications

Academic Division:
Language, Health & Physical Education/Science, Math, Social Science, Business. Qualified applicants must hold a minimum of a Master's degree including 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
