Position SummaryLawson State Community College is accepting applications for part-time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. The role is contractor‑based, employed on an "as needed" basis, and limited to nine credit hours per semester. Applicants will be hired as needed and will remain on file for 36 months.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical welding courses at the freshmen and sophomore levels.
- Adhere to all learning management system (Blackboard) requirements, including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, assignments, and test dates.
- Teach from current, job‑relevant syllabi and training plans, supplementing lectures with demonstrations and multimedia materials.
- Demonstrate safe use of equipment and integrate safety, health, and fire prevention into instruction.
- Maintain a conducive learning environment and supervise students in class, laboratory, and shop settings.
- Develop laboratory projects that link theory to practical application.
- Administer written and performance examinations, keeping systematic records of student progress.
- Record student progress using progress charts and the LMS, submit grades by the due date, and report changes to the registrar.
- Communicate student progress to appropriate personnel and respond to student requests promptly.
- Assist students with required graduation documents and participate in departmental orientation.
- Adhere to institutional policies, FERPA regulations, and ADA accommodation requirements.
- Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in the welding discipline.
- Three (3) years of successful full‑time experience as a welding practitioner.
- Valid Alabama Welding Instructor license (required for the Technical Division).
- Knowledge of safety, health, and fire prevention in a welding environment.
- Effective communication, instructional methodology, and record‑keeping skills.
