i3 Academy Senior Reading Fellow – Full-Time Position

9-month Contract (190 days) | Teacher Salary Schedule

Coordinate the work of creating a literacy plan that aligns with the Alabama Literacy Act, provide ongoing literacy instruction, and provide coaching and support to assigned teachers

• Teacher Certification Required
• Certified Academic Language Certification Highly Preferred
• Experience in teaching elementary or early childhood education

• Serve as a Literacy Leader for assigned grade level(s) and teachers
• Be a continual learner in the area of literacy
• Remain current regarding any resources, procedures, and updates surrounding the Alabama Literacy Act, including the required portfolio
• Provide ongoing coaching and support of assigned grade level teachers
• Assist with the coordination and implementation of screeners, diagnostics, benchmarks, training, and be the point person for organizational implementation
• Identify training needs and provide the resources and training needed for successful collaboration with teachers and effective strategies with students
• Create clear and concise communication that may be utilized by the Grade Level Team and parents about the literacy plan
• Develop good working relationships with teachers to facilitate being a resource
• Work with teachers to identify and address the needs of students based on data from assessments
• Demonstrate an understanding of the science of reading and evidence-based best practices
• Demonstrate an understanding of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction as well as the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process
• Have familiarity with coaching and co-teaching models
• Observe and model in classrooms to provide feedback to fellows and the teachers the fellows support
