Position Summary

Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months.

Terms of Employment

Employed on an "As Needed" basis; local salary schedule in accordance with documented academic credentials and/or educational experiences; not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.

Salary

Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) - MS/MA $1683 per 3 credit course
Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) - PhD./Ed.D. $1836 per 3 credit course

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at Lawson State at the freshmen and sophomore coursework levels.
  • Adhere to all requirements outlined and published regarding the learning management system (Blackboard), including posting course syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments with due dates, and test dates.
  • Teach from current job‑relevant course syllabi and training plan.
  • Supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials and demonstrate safe use of equipment.
  • Include safety, health, and fire prevention as an integral part of instruction.
  • Maintain a learning environment that is conducive to student success.
  • Supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop.
  • Develop laboratory projects that enable students to relate theory to practical application through assignments.
  • Distribute a current syllabus at the beginning of each term containing objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, and required materials.
  • Administer written and performance examinations to determine progress and administer final examinations.
  • Record and report student progress through progress charts, Blackboard, or equivalent systems.
  • Encourage good work habits and submit a plan to the department chairperson and supervising administrators for any absence.
  • Communicate students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel according to established guidelines.
  • Supervise students in cooperative educational settings when applicable.
  • Respond to students’ requests promptly, typically within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Follow all regulations regarding online instruction when applicable.
  • Facilitate instructional methodologies concerning programs requiring industry chemicals/products.
Recordkeeping
  • Maintain permanent rosters and accurate attendance records.
  • Submit attendance reports as required on time.
  • Follow the state and institution's adopted grading system.
  • Submit grades each term by the designated due date.
  • Submit status change forms to the registrar as necessary.
  • Assist students in submitting graduation documents.
Enforcement of College Policies
  • Participate in departmental orientation.
  • Communicate announcements as directed by administration.
  • Follow institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Adhere to FERPA regulations and report any known violations.
  • Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when documentation is provided.
Qualifications

Fine Arts:
Art, Music, and Theatre – Applicants must hold a minimum of a master’s degree, including 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
